New Year's Eve is one of the most hyped events every year. Still aglow from holiday festivities, we bask in the hope of what a new year will bring. It's the thrill of uncertainty fuelled by the power of possibility. But this wide-eyed optimism always leads to let down when we realize that, as the classic song says, "nothing changes on New Year's Day".
