from The Keys 107 Network · host The Keys 107 Network

7pm-8pm Raymond Shorter; The Black Male Agenda Bowie State University. Shorter is the reason Minister Farrakhan spoke at that Black institution. "When we began the Black Male Agenda at Bowie in 2008 we always wanted to get Minister Farrakhan on this campus. And, when we accomplished that a few weeks ago the campus has remained lit up from his presentation." Hear the background to how Minister Farrakhan was invited to speak at Bowie State University. The prime mover is The Black Male Agenda (2008) for advancing academic excellence and developing responsible Black males,  the Freshman students crisis and its impact on all Black male students at Bowie and how it led to the historic presentation by Minister Farrakhan at Bowie State University. 8pm-9pm Historian, David Head and  Chemical-Engineer Rodney Dotson will discuss one of the most prolific inventors fueling the Industrial Revolution, Granville T. Woods. Hear the powerful significance of Granville T. Woods' inventive life to Black students, parents and educators and the introduction of STEM to Black youth. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math were early ingredients in Granville T. Woods' life. His hands-on experience in a blacksmith shop can be duplicated in less challenging environments such as gardening, auto-mechanics, breaking down and rebuilding computers, etc. What you want to learn is how STEM was realized in a blacksmith shop.   David Head is based in Detroit and is active in bringing the Granville T. Woods story into classrooms and museums in that city.  Mr Head also has a book soon to be published on the inventor.  Meanwhile, Rodney Dotson has created the Talent Development Network dedicated to accelerating math and science learning among inner city youth. Talent Development Network is an outreach program in the last several years at City College in Harlem.
