Responsibility

Man often claims absolute independence, insisting he is accountable to no one but himself, yet such freedom is an illusion, for no one can secede from an interdependent universe. Our lives physically, socially, and morally are bound up with others, and every private act carries public consequences. Because we share a common life, we are responsible both to one another and, supremely, to God, our Creator and Redeemer. This responsibility cannot be escaped, for we live and die unto the Lord and must give account to Him. True responsibility is therefore not bondage but grace: in Christ, who perfectly fulfilled man’s duty to God and man, our debt is discharged, our rebellion ended, and we are made free to live responsibly, faithfully, and peacefully under God’s sovereign lordship."
