Rest

from Yes! We're Open: Living Faith with Needham UCC · host The Congregational Church of Needham

All our systems and schedules aside, rest isn't a might or maybe once everything else gets done. Rest is a have-to, a necessity, literally baked into the way God makes us. Even Jesus needed to take time off and away from his mission to quite literally save the world, so we can, too. Which is fine to say in this pandemic moment, but how, exactly? How do we rest? And what kind of rest do we really need? Because per @thenapministry, rest is an act of resistance. (Mark 1:29-39).Links toDr. Saundra Dalton-Smith's TED talk, "The Real Reason Why We Are Tired and What to Do About It"  https://youtu.be/ZGNN4EPJzGkTricia Hersey's interview with NPR about the Nap Ministry https://www.npr.org/2020/06/04/869952476/atlanta-based-organization-advocates-for-rest-as-a-form-of-social-justiceThe Congregational Church of Needham strives to be a radically inclusive, justice-seeking Christian community.
