Passage: Psalms 23:1-3a Sermon Notes: Review: 1. Rest is a Gift: that you may remember your identity, and the purpose of why you do what you do. 2. Rest so that you may Delight and know Him more 3. Rest so that He can prepare you to do what He has planned for you. Before God can work through you, He has to be With you. 4. Rest requires faith. The promise is that if you have the faith to rest, he can do for you in 6 days what you felt you need 7 days to do. 5. Rest requires God’s prescription not ours Intro: 1. The reason why we can’t Rest still, is because we are not content a. We are going to learn two things: i. The contentment that brings us Rest ii. How do we get it 1. The contentment that bring us rest is confidence in the Lord for our provision a. The issue of our hearts i. We are not satisfied. We are not content b. What contentment is not i. Living life denying hurt and disappointment ii. Being optimistic with everything that’s going on in life iii. Settling for things that are less than they ought to be c. What contentment is i. Confidence in the Lord for our provision d. We are able to have this contentment because the LORD is my Shepherd 2. There are two ways to get Contentment: Only one Shepherd and Eat/Drink what He gives a. Must have only One Shepherd b. Eat and Drink what he gives i. John 6:53-64: Eat and Drink of the Gospel ii. Difference between Knowing/Agreeing Belief vs Eat/Drinking Belief is “is there the fruit of obedience that comes from the belief in Jesus.
