Restart - Your Past Vs. Your Future
from Trinity Church Messages Hosted by Trinity Church
How much should your past shape your future? In Acts 9, Saul has a reputation for hurting Christians and opposing Jesus. Then, on the road to Damascus, Jesus meets him and changes the direction of his life. Saul’s story does not erase what happened in his past. The damage was real, and so were the reasons people were afraid of him. But his past did not have the final word. Our past may tell the truth about what we’ve done, but it does not get the final word about who we are. That final word belongs to Jesus. Through Saul, Ananias, and Barnabas, this message explores the mercy of Jesus, the reality of repentance, and the people God uses to help us step into a new future. If Jesus could transform Saul from an enemy of the church into the Apostle Paul, we can trust that his mercy is powerful enough to meet us wherever we are.
