Restoring Bishop Auckland's WWI War Memorial

from 105.9 Bishop FM · host 105.9 Bishop FM

County Durham has a long military history, and many residents in and around Bishop Auckland have friends or relatives that have served with Durham Light Infantry or other regiments. Remembrance Sunday is an important day in the local calendar, as many people come together to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice for their family, friends, community and country. George Campbell is a Bishop Auckland veteran and the Secretary of Bishop Auckland Durham Light Infantry Association and he has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to perform some important renovation and repair work to the World War One Memorial in St Andrew's Church Yard in advance of Remembrance weekend 2024. Gillian caught up with him earlier this week to find out more about his project. If you would like to contribute, please click here - www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/george-campbell-1
