Restoring God’s Foundation

Restoring God’s Foundation may be considered controversial because it addresses issues that challenge many of today’s cultural values. Yet its purpose is not to condemn people, but to present what the Bible teaches about creation, marriage, the Sabbath, human identity, sin, and restoration. Beginning with God’s perfect creation and ending with the call to “build the old waste places” and “raise up the foundations of many generations” (Isaiah 58:12), the song calls us back to God’s original design. [Verse 4] But God’s law of love, mankind defied, Divorce has broken the sacred relation, Unnatural affections, same-sex unions, Mar the picture of Christ and His church. [Verse 5] Everywhere are seen wrecks of humanity, Broken-down family altars, broken-up families, Children and adults alike, confused about sexuality, Reduced to pronouns and alphabets for their identity. [Verse 6] Sodomitish principles, as in days of old— Pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness, Neglect of the poor and the needy as well, Are seen in God’s people who profess to honor Him. [Verse 7] In the beginning, things were not so, All of creation conformed to God’s law, Sin brought corruption through selfishness and pride, In our day, as of old, God’s truths are set aside.
