Retaliation - punishment and rewards

This is the next in a series of Positive Parenting Pep Talks from Dreikur's book, "The Challenge of Parenthood."   In this series, I am using ideas from the book, written in 1948, and putting a modern day perspective to the topic. Using punishment and rewards nearly always backfires.   One reason is that children feel themselves equal and therefore will rebel against and even respond in kind.
