Rethinking Reality: Prof. Peter Lamont on the Psychology Behind Big-Picture Thinking

from Business Talk · host Business Talk

Prof. Peter Lamont, Professor of Psychology in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, UK offers thought-provoking insights from his acclaimed book, “Radical Thinking: How to See the Bigger Picture.” Prof. Lamont studied history at the University of Edinburgh before completing a PhD focused on Victorian beliefs about spiritualism. Since joining the Koestler Parapsychology Unit in 1996, he has developed an academic career that bridges psychology, history, and the study of extraordinary beliefs. Prof. Lamont, a psychologist and cultural historian, held an AHRC Fellowship (2002–2005) and became a lecturer in 2006. His research focuses on belief, critical thinking, and the cultural history of magic and the paranormal. He is the author of Extraordinary Beliefs (Cambridge University Press) and numerous journal articles. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he is affiliated with the BPS, the Society for Psychical Research, and the Inner Magic Circle. He also co-founded the Edinburgh Secret Society - though details remain, unsurprisingly, secret. This podcast is brought to you by Global Management Consultancy.
