Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Richard Warriors episode 504. Woo! As always, my host Justin Macron as always, I'm joined by Bible human Chris Saturn. Hi Justin.
Hi, Saturn. We're here, things aren't weird or anything. No, it's fine. I think people have come to expect weird second-show energy from us.
Or maybe weird also energy. I don't know. I feel like a lot of times we'll have shows like last episode, we're like, yeah, we're just going to sit down, we're going to talk about this game, we're going to have a good time, that's going to be it. And then other shows where it's like, we come in the front door and it's like, this is not, not, this is not going to go any way that we expected to go.
There's a, there's a song by, they might be giants that they had performed one time called Disappointing Show. Yeah. Where it's just a song about their show being incredibly disappointing people came to see them and they phoned it in and it's awful and then the PA fell on the crowd. And, and it's just something that I think about sometimes whenever I'm in the mid thought and realize that this thought is going to go as poorly as it possibly can.
Guy wrote the chat weird even numbered shows and I'm like, I didn't think about that. Yeah, all of our driven numbers shows are the weird ones. That is true. Yeah.
When the weird comes out. Anyway, thanks for tuning in to Eric and the floaters. I'm going to talk about my week now. How are you floaters doing just my flutters are doing great.
I'm fantastic. I got my Vida hack Vida up to date. I had some out of date software on and stuff and update to the newer versions of things. I'm kind of on a bit of a PlayStation kick because the PS5 has got me like, you know, thinking about my PlayStation library and what I do and don't have on my shelf and what I may or may not want to have access to in the future.
Sure. And so I made sure my hack Vida was all up to snuff and working and downloading games just fine and that works great. You know what bothers me about the Vida is that I can remote into my PS5 from my PS4 and I can remote into my PS4 from my Vida, but I can't remote into my PS5 from my Vida even through the PS4. Okay.
Just go to the TV. If I'm wanting to watch something on the TV and play my PS5 on a second screen, I can't use my Vida. Why don't you watch something on your phone and play on your TV? No.
Because I'm playing something on my TV. I want to have the volume up on it. Okay. Well, why don't you?
Okay. This is so weird. I know I've got some weird tendencies. But if I want to play station and watch something on my phone, I just set my phone on the arm of the couch next to me and I put like a Bluetooth earbud in and I can hear that while I got the game going.
Now, whatever is on the TV needs to be doing the audio. That's how the world works. That's where the audio comes from. That's a weird hang up.
No. That's the guy I'm not the wrong. Yeah. See you messaging me.
No. Yeah. He's the wrong here. No.
I think it is. You know what I think it is. Is y'all are some old is what it is. I think it's an old person thing.
No. No. It's elder. Some is elder millennial shit.
I have the surround system. I want to use it. I don't want to be listening to some bullshit headphones. I want to be listening to whatever is on the TV.
You know what I guarantee your sound bar has Bluetooth. You could Bluetooth your phone to it and have your game coming out of your sound bar. I can't fucking with you. I can't with you right now.
I can't fucking do this. I add some PSP to fuck. Here we go. I got the so adrenaline is the PSP emulator on a hacked Vita and I got I got I got a adrenaline on my Vita and my Vita TV as well.
And I got an add on for it that lets me add real time cheats to PSP games as I'm playing them. Yeah. Yeah. It's amazing.
Oh, yeah. It's so good. I love the PSP. It's really hard to go back to PSP sacrificed a lot of functionality, but also very much tried to have console quality titles on it.
Despite the fact that it's missing three sixty P or whatever it is and it's missing a pair of shoulder buttons and a right and long stick and left and long stick is really uncomfortable. Yeah. And also can't click in. So a lot of PS3 is missing a lot of inputs missing like half the controller.
So a lot of PSP games are really fun, but janky or hard or difficult and having some cheats just kind of takes that edge off like I was playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Which I love Monster Hunter. And I want to experience the game, but it's really hard to go back to that jank. And so I can just turn on cheats to make the game easier so that I can still enjoy it and they just they work in real time.
It's amazing. Amazing. I just hold select and it pops up and like built in cheating in you. I love the same thing going.
It's so nice. It's fantastic. Apparently there's ways to do Vita cheats, but I don't really feel the need to cheat on most of the games because most of the games I play don't. It's not really necessary.
The Vita also doesn't have L2 and R2 buttons does it. It does not. It would let you emulate them on the back touch screen. A lot of games would do that.
I don't remember if that was a system software thing or just a lot of games. I've got a case for my Vita that has virtual L2 and R2 buttons and when you press them, it just taps in on that part of the screen. That's nice. What's also nice is games like Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, there were camera controls.
They were mapped to the D-pad, but in the Vita software, you can map the D-pad to the right analog stick. The Vita does have and it basically adds camera controls to a lot of games that had that weird work around. Anyway, if you don't have a hack to be that, you should get one. It's a fantastic system.
Man, I've got so much. Is it expensive now? Yeah, last of a check there are like 250, 300 there. Ooh.
Oh, wow. Switch pricing. Yeah. Well, I think you should get one.
I'm still upset at the Metal Gear that is still trapped on PSP. It still pisses me off. That looks like you can get a Vita for about 160 these days. Oh, 100% get a Vita for 160 bucks.
Awesome system. If just to play the four or five Metal Gear games that are trapped on PSP still, I mean we got acid one and two portable ops, Peace Walker. I think Peace Walker got an HD port but it was on PS3, so it's also equally trapped because PS3. Isn't that on the HD collection?
Nope. Nope. It was on the HD collection for... It was on the PS3 HD collection.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. The Metal Gear HD collection. Oh, that's the ship. I don't know.
You can just pop in the disc from the Xbox 360 version in series X-Men. There's only three trapped Metal Gear games on PSP. They're all trapped. No, they're in the shut up!
I'm also still playing my PS5. I have that kind of new console thing where I'm just frantically playing as many games as possible to try to catch up on like 10 years of gaming that I've not been a part of. So I've categorized this into two sections. One is stuff that I just kind of started to mess around with to see what's up to see if I like it because I paid for PlayStation Plus because it was on sale.
And I was talking to my wife. I'm like, hey, I want to almost exclusively get physical games for my PlayStation because that's, you know, kind of part of the reason. Yeah, ownership. Part of the reason I wanted it in the first place also just to play the exclusives.
And she was like, I think that's a good idea. And I was like, I might look into a rental service because I still want to try games. But Gamefly costs more than PlayStation Plus. That's sad.
It's cheaper to just pay for PlayStation Plus and treat downloads as my rentals, which is what I've been doing. I started Ghost of Tsushima, which is such a cool game. Such a cool game. I don't have the time or the hours that I want to pump into it right now, but it is definitely one that I'm going to circle back around to because man, that really makes you feel like you're just in.
Same right movie. Such a cool, cool game. I fired up Horizon Zero Dom and check out for free from PlayStation during COVID. Just to play that.
And for whatever reason, you would buy me the PC version for something Christmas or something. I don't remember. And I played a bit of it, but I was just for some reason confused by it. Like I never really understood the gameplay systems in it.
The second go around, I'm understanding it better and having a better time with it. I also picked up Lego Star Wars, the Skywalker saga, which is all nine Lego Star Wars games. I'll smoosh into one giant game. And I was playing that with my daughter and having a good time.
And they're still, I think I paid like $15 for the PS5 version of the game. It's not that I'm actually like playing and putting reasonable amounts of hours into. Probably my most played game on PS5 so far is the Demons Souls remake, which is just. Oh, it's more or less time than Asteras Playroom.
More than Asteras Playroom. I think I put in five, six hours of Asteras Playroom. I'm probably at least 10 in on Demons Souls. I think I put 20 hours in Playroom.
I just don't think I'll put that many else. Oh, man. Demons Souls has been really, really good. Back when Dark Souls came out, I still preferred Demons Souls because it was level based.
So there's like a safe hub area and then you enter the levels. Like that more than the open world thing because in the open world thing, it's like, you've got to fucking get to the shit. You're like, oh, I want to go over here. You have to like run your ass across the world to get there.
And I liked the level hub idea more. I also, I don't know. I really like Demons Souls. I like it on PS3.
It took me a while to transition over to Dark Souls, which I eventually did. But at first I was like, I don't know if I like this as much. And the remake is just really, really good. It runs out of locked 60 FPS, looks gorgeous, full HDR, all the fancy stuff.
And I don't know if it's because I played Demons Souls and it finished it because I'm only immortal. Or if it's because I've played all three Dark Souls since it. But going back to Demons Souls, it's not an easy game. But I'm less often tricked by the game.
Souls games like to do things where they do little tricks or they like stuff enemies around blind corners that jump out at you. Or they have like a skill check moments where you'll run into an enemy. And they're really easy to beat if you know the one trick to beat them. But if you don't, they're fucking impossible.
And so I've run into less roadblocks in that regard. I think just because the Dark Souls games kind of taught me not to do it, I guess. And then circling back here, there's just a little bit less of it. But I'm perpetually prepared for people that are Souls fans.
I'm doing a winged spear gloom night build. Which is made up all those words. All words are made up. So in a way, by the transitive property, I'm speaking gibberish.
So that's for people that want to know I always do safe spear builds. I'm not very good at the game. So anything that lets me just never take damage, always have a shield up and poke things from afar is what I always do because I'm one of those slow, safe players. That's fair.
I play most games. I am, I don't know, in Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy 7 remake integrase. A little over halfway through, isn't it? There are, I think, 18 chapters I looked it up.
So by Chapter count, about halfway through, I don't, maybe the later ones are longer, I have no idea. Enjoying it, still not in love with the combat system? Yeah, I don't like the combat. Otherwise, I think it's a good game.
The writing and the presentation, everything is fantastic. Oh, yeah. It's significantly more linear than I thought it was. I played the demo on PS4 and I was like, I don't love that combat system and I just never went back to it.
But I've been kind of sitting waiting for it to get cheap on PC. And I think it got down like 30 bucks, you know, and then I just never picked it up. Did you get it physical or physical? Yeah.
Oh, wow. How much you spent on it? Well, first I bought a copy for $34. Okay.
And it came in and it is the PAL version. Right. Yeah. Because that's the one that's not $200.
Well, and then I was like, well, that sucks because I put it in and I installed it and I've been playing it on PS Plus as my rindling air quotes. But then I couldn't download the DLC for it because I sent that back and I ended up getting a physical, and I did pay more for it. I paid 50 bucks for a North American physical. I think that's all.
And so that's that's that's done a little bit. It was going for 200 for the North American people a while. I would not do that now. Oh, right.
I'm re-printed recently. That's right. I will say it really is getting in the feels of the, the. The themes of the story are explored much more deeply, obviously, because it's just one chunk of the game extrapolate out to a 30 hour game.
And the themes are hitting a lot harder in 2025 than they did in the original game. I played it. I do really like the writing for Bigg's, which is the original. I like how fleshed out they are.
Wedge is basically just Charlie Sheen, though. Yeah. You see that and Jesse is super thirsty the whole time, but I still like them as characters. She's super thirsty, but it seems earnest.
It's not like creepy or weird. No. My only real complaint so far when I don't love the combat. I don't hate it.
I'm getting used to it, but I don't love it. There's just certain aspects of the combat that I feel like I don't have control over and that's frustrating to me. I also, this is a weird nitpick. All of the characters, especially the theme, really just the female characters, move like K-pop idols on stage.
Like their gesticulations are these constant like poses, like their power range or pop idols or whatever. And I'm like, it wouldn't be weird if everyone was like this, but everyone else is pretty normal. Yeah, I'm upset that Barrett doesn't bust him over all the time and make his sexy poses and stick his ass out. He does sing a lot and I like the hat.
He's got several songs he sings. Yeah. I just kind of sing to himself. But yeah, some of the story is really getting me or getting me right in the feels of the soundtrack, especially is really getting me.
I've been doing wearing headphones for my PS5 a lot and turning on the 3D sound and so I'm really noticing a lot more sound than I normally doing games. It's just really nice. Overall enjoying it, I'm definitely going to finish it. I've already got Reberth on the shelf.
It was like $28. I'm going to be thinking about it. Yeah, it's sitting there. I'm really enjoying it.
More than I thought that I would. I just was like, I got a PlayStation. I got to get Final Fantasy 7. That's the rule.
You have to get Final Fantasy 7. There's nothing else you can do about it. I also, I barely started just today, but the new Monster Hunter came out and I was like, do I want to get that and pay the, I don't know how much games cost now $78,000 or something. And so I was like, do I want to get that or do I want to pick up the ultimate edition of World, which I skipped for like $25?
And I figured the new one's going to get expansion content. It's eventually going to have a complete edition. I'll get that later when all of the performance and bugs and everything worked out and all of the game is very well documented for me to explore. Right.
So I'm playing World literally the day before Wilds comes out. Yeah. And I'm having a really good time with that. It's very distinctly different from Classic Monster Hunter and also distinctly different from Monster Hunter Rise, which is interesting.
It kind of ends up splitting Monster Hunter into three kind of camps. I know World was kind of the game that got, I've been told, I don't know the data, but I've been told that World was when Monster Hunter became a big deal. That's what it went mainstream. Yeah.
And that's the one that I skipped because I looked at it and I was like, that doesn't look like Monster Hunter. I played it on, I think I played it on Xbox One on Game Pass. And it, it like ran like shit and it was heavy tutorials at the beginning. And I was like, I just don't have the patience to sit through this right now.
But now I'm PS5 with the performance mode, lock 60 FPS, and a little more patience. I'm having fun. I'm maybe six, seven hunts in right now. And it's really fun.
Again, doesn't really feel the same as Classic Monster Hunter, but it feels different in a way that is good. In a way that is good and modern and streamlined. And in a way that weirdly enough, Rise kind of deviated away from even though it came out. It was the next game in the series.
Very odd trajectory, but definitely, definitely enjoying it. Enjoying a lot of PS5 right now and PS4 because, you know, it's all basically the same. Because what is the generation in the works matter? Yeah.
What does it mean? It means $500. Yeah, there you go. It means $500.
But anyway, yeah, I have been enjoying the PS5. So let me ask you this, I have a channel of PS5. Have you already downloaded Chiyaki? Yes, I've already got it on my Steam Deck.
The works matter. My router does not seem up to the task for streaming PS5. Also, streaming PS PlayStation games over the Internet, the other cloud streaming is dog shit on my. Yeah, yeah, they're, they're, they're, they're clads streaming as trash on the Internet.
Yeah, it's utter dog shit. That's, that's unfortunate. Chiyaki works really well at my place. And even when I'm away from home, I can use Chiyaki to play my home PS5 pretty consistently.
It's a better connection to my Xbox now, which is weird because my Xbox used to be a better connection. And Microsoft did something as I'm pointing and fucked it. There is, I've been playing it on Android a little bit. There's an app on the Play Store that works okay.
Is it just an official Sony one? No, no, it's a third party one. And, but it looks okay by running the game in like 500 P. No.
Which doesn't look awesome. No, I bet not. So I'm kind of just relegated to playing on my TV. No.
But, you know, it is what it is. I wish the streaming worked better, but honestly, I'm not playing a ton in bed. And that's the only other TV I really would be playing on everything else would be on Steam Deck or on my phone. And at that point, I'll just go in the living room because your PS5 is wireless.
No, no, no, no, wait, it kind of is. So I have a mesh network. So it's wired into one of my mesh nodes. Right.
But that's a wireless connection to the main one. It's not my main node. That's probably why I've got my PS5 wired. And since it has been wired, because I ran a wire across my apartment to get to it.
Since then, Chiaqui has been fantastic. Before that, I couldn't really do it. But now it runs better wired into the node. The nodes seem to have pretty strong connections, but it is still like my actual router is upstairs.
So it's not much to be wired into a node as well. It wasn't great. But it has to come in off of the 15 foot antenna that's on my roof. Right.
So it can only come in upstairs. So it just kind of is what it is. But you know, whatever. Now that I've run wiring all over my apartment, my network is great.
God, I wish I could afford to do that in my house. That would be. I have helped somebody wire a house before. It's not too bad.
I don't want to do it. No, it's my attic. My attic is horrible. Yeah.
And also your living room, if I remember, has a very tall ceiling. Yeah, we have vaulted ceilings there at least 20 feet up. They got to be. Yeah.
It's a tall desk there. Yeah. It's an ordeal. Anyway, I'll even play.
Not a lot because I've been working a lot. I've been doing an insane amount. 10 to 12 hour days, five or six days a week. And so it's been a lot of working.
So the go-to games that I have on my laptop that I can play during downtime at work is mostly things that I don't have to spend a lot of attention to where I can like zone out and the game doesn't crash out on me. And my fallbacks have always been peggling in many motorways for the last year or so. And I finally got the last of the achievements in peggling. Oh.
Which I got up to a crucible level 20, which is pretty tough at that point. It kind of feels unfair, but I did it. And then the last achievement I had after that I looked was for dying during a scenario sequence. And I was like, oh, what does that even mean?
And then I happened to be super low on health and I got to one of the little question mark nodes and I was like, you want to stick your hand in this tree minus 10 HP? I'm like, oh, this is it, isn't it? So I click that and just instantly die. You did it.
Yeah. I was like, this is how I wanted to go out anyway, sticking my hand in a tree. It was always your, your peggling's a little dream. Yeah.
Yeah. He always wanted to die grasping at a bramble. Yeah. That's, that's pretty much it because it's just been a lot of working in it.
You learn that some of the smartest people in the world are not very smart. And it's been a lot of that the last few weeks. And you learn that to become very smart at a thing. You have to become dumb at a lot of other things.
Yeah. We had this dude who is a brilliant guy. It's very smart at programming AI and robots and AR environments. And he put in like five tickets back to back.
It was all how dare you people upgrade my computer to Windows 11 and none of my systems work anymore than I get there. And what it was was his number lock was turned off. And so he couldn't log into anything. How do you break?
Because there's no way he doesn't feel some amount of shame. Yeah. When I showed him what it was, he's like, oh, yeah, sorry. Sorry.
Sorry. He was fine. Don't worry about it. Like he knew what a number lock was.
Yeah. Once he, once he saw it because he just wasn't looking at his screen when he was typing in his passwords or whatever. And so then he would just hit enter and everything would reject his passwords. Why would he look like this?
He's looking at his keyboard really typed? No, I don't know what he was looking at. Just loosing the eyes. He was looking away doing other things.
And I happen to look at the screen. I was like, you're not typing. All right. So, you know, it's just a thing.
It's a part of working IT unfortunately. Yeah. That's live. Let's do the news.
Yes, sir. The positive still upbeat news. Okay. I think we do that for the exactly these two episodes and then forget about it.
And then you'll forget about it next time. Hyperkin has finally started taking orders for their retro in GX, which is a key. Retro on GX. You've owned retro on devices.
But the end was capital. Yeah, because that's how they do it now. That's stupid. That's retro in not retron.
Yeah, well, they've always done it that way. Well, then I was stupid. And now I'm correct. You know, you know, right.
That's a good way to spell it. And I like it. It's just like that episode of that little boy that nobody wants to upset in the Twilight Zone. It's good that you killed everyone, little Timmy.
I was just reading the original story that episode was based on the other day, too. The Retro on GX is a PC Engine slash GG 16 compatible retro on device. So it'll play Hugh cards, which is cool. Cool thing for them to be doing.
Local Funk has won his appeal to Peggy. And Bellatro will no longer be rated 18 plus. Yes, good news. Good news.
Good news is the developer for Blotro. If you don't know the mysterious Blotro developer. It's not that he had to appeal it. Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. At least he did eventually win his appeal, which I didn't think he was going to. A lot of people didn't think he was going to. So that's good that he did.
Also a fan made port of Blotro is now available on Nintendo DS. I also saw one released for Vita. Nice. And all the fan versions of Blotro that I've seen, it's got a lot of fan ports required to own the physical game or not physical, but you own the game and you transfer a couple of files over.
And I'm not only is it getting fan ports, but they're ones that still support the developers. But you should buy the physical port because it comes with cards. Yes, I got it on Switch and I got my cards in my little package. Also, fan gamers is taking pre-orders on Bellatro, a card deck.
I keep thinking about it. You're thinking about it. Chinese hardware developer 8086, yes, exclamation point, who previously released new laptops based on the 8086 and 3D6 PCs has released a new laptop based on the MSX2 that includes an MSX2 cartridge slot. It looks cool, but I have two problems.
One, I think LRG did a video on these 8086 and 3D6 PCs they had. Let me run games. LGR. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lazy game room. Okay, yeah. I think LGR did a video on those laptops and if those are the ones, if those are the same ones, then they are questionable? Probably, yeah.
At best. I think, you know, it's funny, right after I typed that into the news, I happened to go to eBay to pay for an auction and it showed me recommendations for me and it was one of their 386 PCs. Oh, really? Yeah.
And so now I am paranoid about what all eBay is watching, but it is, they do sell them directly through eBay apparently. It was sold by 8086, yes exclamation mark. So it was their official eBay store and it's $220 for their retro 386. It's very durable looking.
It's teeny-taught. Oh, yeah. That's the other thing I was going to say is it's extremely adorable. Yeah.
I will say if they sell them on eBay, then they've got some confidence in it because eBay has extremely tilted in the favor of the buyer purchase protections. Yeah. You can basically just show up and be like, it sucks. Give me my money back and you will get your money back on eBay period.
No questions in the buyer's screwed. Yeah. It's funny if you look at their store though, it's got their 386 and their 8086 and then it's got the MSX, which is still pre-order, but because it is still a pre-order, the price on it is listed as $99,999. And it says 28 sold.
What the fuck? I am guessing they changed that price after they sold out of their pre-orders, but they don't want to remove their listing. Yeah. So yeah.
Awesome selling another one. Not much money for it. Fuck it. Go to the factory.
We'll get one. The steam deck has sold nearly four million units since launch and the handheld PC market has grown to roughly two million units per year compared to an estimated 15.7 million into the switch unit sold last year down from its peak of 28.8 units in 2021. That comparison is important. It wasn't 28 units.
Yeah. Yeah. Million units. They sold 28.
That one lost one of its Joy-Con. Yeah. I got one to grab it from the guy who's buying it from the Joy-Con fell off and went down the sewer so he never... He only charged him for .8.
Second show energy. This is an important sales comparison that I'm already seeing journalists in the news make because there's a lot of talk of the Switch 2 coming out and how much of the Switch market share is the steam deck going to infringe upon. It's a discussion we've had in the Discord, you and I have had personally. And there are important sales numbers that are pertinent to that conversation that's going to become more pertinent as Switch 2 details continue to trickle out.
One of the other things is shutting down multiple studios including Monolith Productions. That's tragic and unfortunate. Fucking stop. This is a pretty prolific developer too.
Oh yeah. They've been doing a ton of stuff for like almost 30 years now. I don't know what one of the other's fucking problem is. They can't figure out how to run a game studio for one thing.
Monolith did a ton of good shit. They did the fear games which I fucking loved. And pray. Fantastic.
They were the show go people. Yeah. And no one lives forever. They did some really good stuff.
They did the middle earth games. And Warner retained the patent to that system that those games use. The nemesis system. Fuck off Warner.
Positive. Positive. Maybe. Positive thinking.
Maybe the Warner building will catch fire. With nobody in it. Clearly. With that right on vacation.
Maybe. Just the building. David Dasslaff will fuck himself. Silver linings.
Silver linings you guys. A bit though has announced the ultimate two controller. The sequel to the ultimate. Finally the ultimate ultimate controller which doesn't have Bluetooth.
Yeah I was looking at it and I'd not see anything that's selling me on it all. I'm sold on it. It's got nice triggers. It's got nice joysticks.
It's their Hall effect. It's got additional paddles that are programmable from the controller without using software. Like there's stuff on it that is really attractive to me. I'm just not seeing anything on it that would sell me over my current ultimate.
Yeah. That's like the stuff I see is cool. Yeah. But is it by a whole new controller?
I mean the answer is eventually yes but not right away. Like if I could already have one like you sure. Yeah. It looks fantastic.
But I've already got the ultimate one and it's enough for me for now. It's got RGB sticks which is cool. I do like the tiny bumpers. Yeah.
Yeah. That's the thing. I want it's got the trigger mode which I like. I use a lot of my Xbox Elite where you slide this little thing over and it changes the depth of the triggers which is nice.
It's got motion controls and they call them fast bumpers. It's a little R4 and R5 that are squeezed in between the bumper and the trigger which I'm a fan of and it says no software required. So I'm guessing you can program them on the controller which makes me more of a fan. Or they're just not programmed and you get to not use them if you don't want to stop.
I highly doubt that which is a possibility considering the original ultimate. I've never downloaded the software for it and it works fine. I just don't have functionality of some of those buttons. It does lose switch compatibility which is another kind of big swing to miss.
Maybe it's because it's gaining switch to compatible. It does look like it's got back paddles of some kind. I do like the little portal lights around the analog stick. It says it has TMR joysticks.
I don't know all my joystick terminology but they sound fancy. It looks like the shaft of the joystick might be metal which is exciting. Comes with the dock. I don't know.
It's cool. It's weird to lose Bluetooth and switch compatibility. Those aren't a big deal for me because I don't use them on my switch and I don't use Bluetooth ever if I can avoid it. I'd much rather use a dongle but I can see why a lot of people like no Bluetooth, no bye-tooth.
Sure. I don't know. I had to rhyme. Activision is confirmed that they're using AI-generated assets.
They're using AI-generated assets and Call of Duty games. Did anyone doubt that that was the case? I wonder if they're using Microsoft gaming news AI. I think it probably made no money.
I've fucked not. More than 40% of all PS5 and Xbox playtime in the US is spent between the top 10 live service games which is fucking decent. Not even that surprising but it is. Not surprising.
No, I just wish it wasn't true. Yeah. I don't like it. It's disappointing.
RetroBit has issued a formal apology for using fan translations without the permission of the translators. It's not like you can do this on accident. They knew they were doing it. They're just apologizing because they got caught.
It's not like oops, I accidentally applied the fan translation of this thing that I advertise as being in English. Yeah, here's the thing. I've got a lot of ROMs. I deal with emulation in ROMs on a daily basis.
I've never accidentally applied a fan translation. I'm like, whoa, I didn't mean to do that. It's never happened once. It's not like the developer gave them the fan translated ROMs.
I was like, oh, this is totally our legally translated into English copy of the game. They're like, okay. Yeah. So fuck them for doing it.
I don't at least they apologize. I don't even say at least. Fuck them for doing it and then they apologize. I'm being positive.
Right. I don't know. I don't know how to be positive about this. It sucks.
It's done. Maybe David's us level still. Fuck himself. We can only hope.
Andronic released and then unreleased. A new official firmware that allowed you to directly download rounds of commercial games. This was an issue with Mustard OS a little while back. Someone came out with a fork of that that could do the same thing and it's caused some uproars in the emulation community.
I think for the health of these devices, it's good to not be there, but also like the only reason it's not there is so that people have legal deniability to be with. Let's be honest with ourselves here. Let's keep that legal deniability as long as we can. That's true.
Not give them any reason to be more aggressive than they already are. Another indie dev this time, the developer for the Backrooms 1999 found a one to one ripoff of their game on console stores. The game was subsequently removed from the PlayStation Xbox stores, but Nintendo is quote looking into it. Yeah, which means that they're going to do fuck all.
And let's be fair, the game is kind of an asset flip to begin with because it's just based on, you know, a creepy pasta. But yeah, it's still a one for one ripoff of their game and they did put work into it. They did put effort into it and to have it just stolen by some, you know, you know, ripoff artists is still frustrating. And it's extra frustrating that Nintendo knows this is a problem that many people have pointed out repeatedly and that they don't seem to have any concern about it.
Yeah. I and EO is indefinitely pausing production on their flip handheld, which was their dual screen machine and is issuing refunds to unfulfilled pre-orders. That does suck because the dual screen emulation device is kind of the holy grail for a lot of us. We're all waiting for a really good one for emulating DS and hopefully maybe 3DS games.
Right. Right after I was reading the story earlier, my newsfeed recommended another story about a DS style handheld that was coming out and I click on it and it only has one screen. I saw the, it's, um, who's doing it? I think retrooid is doing a flip and it's just, it's DS style that's got one screen.
Yeah. You're so fucking close, you guys. Yeah. Weird.
And finally, some good news to be positive about. Sony is cutting the price of the PSVR 2 from $550 to $400. That's a little bit of my paid for it. Sure.
But I got mine used from somebody. So I will say, I didn't know this. I was reading about it. I was like, oh, that's a pretty, that's a decently sized price drop.
Yeah. It's just like the price of the PSVR 2 has not been as successful because it is not compatible with PSVR 1 games. Correct. What the fuck were they fucking thinking?
I don't know. And that's the thing that frustrates me the most about it, is that you can't play PSVR 1 games on a couple of games. I've got a couple of games on my PS4 that are VR compatible like Zone of the Enders and Tetris. And Tetris, I paid the $10 to upgrade it to PS5, so I could play it on my PSVR 2.
Zone of the Enders, you just can't. You have to have a PSVR 1 for the original PS4. Also, the original Astrobot game is PSVR exclusive and I can't play it on my PS5 without buying a PSVR 1. And it's insanity that for you to have two VR headsets.
Yeah, for one console. That makes no sense. I don't. I didn't know that about it.
That's all. Yeah, I talk about it when I was talking about my PSVR. I'm again, that's moronic. That is moronic.
So dumb. But hey, it's cheaper. It is cheaper. OK, but that.
And it is a very good quality headset. And works on PC? Yeah, it does work on PC. Though if your video card does not have USB-C output, you have to buy the PlayStation adapter to use it on PC.
How much is that? It's $150. $30 or $40. OK, that's not bad.
It's just a USB to USB-C adapter that has a DisplayPort connector on it, because you do have to have a DisplayPort connection on your video card or use your video cards native USB-C if it has it. And it works well on PC, but do keep in mind, it is a 120 hertz, almost 4K display on the VR. It takes some horsepower. Yeah, so if you don't have the horsepower, you need to crank that shit down to get close to a reasonable frame rate.
Which brings us to our topic at hand. PlayStation brings us to our topic at hand. Which is Xbox Live, that well-known PlayStation service. Yeah, finally, a way for a stranger to tell you how much sex they've had with your mother without having to know what they look like.
When I was going over these notes, because you wrote all these notes, you wrote all these notes. But I did open them to make sure you put a joke about someone's mom getting fucked in the synopsis, because if you didn't, I was going to have to chastise you. And it was already there. Like I was showing up.
I was like, all right, I'm a mom sex joke for the synopsis. You already had. Yeah, I couldn't leave that on the table. That's important.
Release Info, Xbox Live was announced alongside the Xbox console. It initially opened its doors on November 15, 2002. OG Xbox Live was discontinued on the 15th of April 2010. The end of the Xbox Live brand was September 14, 2023.
Platform availability, it was on all of the Xboxes. Yes. It's on Windows PC, running Windows Vista, or newer, have access to Xbox Live. Yeah, the one briefly called Games for Windows Live.
Oh my god. Do you remember when computer gaming world renamed themselves to Games for Windows magazine? Yeah, so dumb. Oh my god.
I listened to their podcast at the time, and they had renamed their podcast to the Games for Windows podcast. And you could tell that every single one of them thought it was the stupidest fucking thing ever, because it was openly made fun of it. Yeah, as they should. It was on Windows Phone, if you could believe it, which ran through 2022.
Yeah, which is insane. Xbox Live, you can access it from iOS and Android. Some games on Switch PS4 and PS5 can also access Xbox Live features via games like Minecraft and maybe future games, because Xbox, everything's in Xbox now. So there's a chance that we'll find out when Forza Horizon 5 comes out on PS5 soon.
Yeah. It looks like to be the next potential Xbox Live game on the console. As far as for some counters. I got the Mechasalt Xbox Live Xbox bundle for my first OG Xbox.
I don't remember what I got for a birthday or some similar holiday when I was 12 or 14-ish. So it had been out for a little bit, because I know that was a later bundle. And I remember playing Mechasalt online with a free trial, instantly dying, and then being like, if I'm going to play online, I'll go play Mech Wars 3 again. I don't fucking need this in my life.
Oddly enough, for whatever reason, I have really vivid memories of unboxing that Xbox in my room. I still don't remember what the occasion was. But I remember the feeling of opening that box and being like, oh, an Xbox. And then I remember seeing how big it was and being like, oh my God, it's enormous.
I remember it being as big as my VCR. Yeah, but taller. Which is insane. So yeah, I was not there at the very beginning, but they're pretty early.
And then by the time Xbox 360 came out, I was working out of game store when I was in high school. And so my whole life was lived on Xbox Live after that moment. What about you, Saturn? So I got my Xbox around the time that Steel Battalion came out.
That was when I got my Xbox was forced steel battalion mostly. Sure. Because I've always had this rule that I try not to buy a console unless the price of the games that I want for the console outweigh the price of the console. Steel Battalion.
It's just kind of the expense of game. Yeah, Steel Battalion on its own kind of pushed it over. Because the Steel Battalion was 200 bucks, and I got my Xbox used for 150. So you know.
