Returning to Gomer

Why do we not walk around in shock that Jesus died for us? Like someone who walked out of the Holocaust unharmed, completely spared from something that should have destroyed them. In this episode we sit with that question and refuse to let it go unanswered. We stare directly into Revelation 20:15 and name what we were actually saved from. We draw a parallel between a soldier returning home to a treacherous wife and our own tendency to cozy up to the very enemy our Savior defeated. And then we meet Gomer. Hosea's wife. The woman who was loved beyond all reason and wandered back anyway. The warning is simple and sobering: if we do not keep one eye on what we escaped from, the way a driver checks the rear view mirror, we risk becoming her. Satan was defeated. He is roaming the earth picking through garbage. You are royalty. A joint heir with Christ. There is no reason to give the enemy so much as a moment of your time. I may have been a Gomer once. But through my free will, I choose to be the daughter of the King.
