Instead of swearing by various things, He advocates for simple honesty — let your 'yes' be 'yes' and your 'no' be 'no.' On retaliation, Jesus challenges the old notion of 'an eye for an eye,' urging us not to retaliate but to show love and forgiveness. He explains the importance of leaving judgment to a third party, such as our judicial system, and ultimately to God.
