Review of "Inside Out 2": An intensely emotional portrayal of puberty

Kelsey Mann, known for his work on previous Pixar films such as The Good Dinosaur, Lightyear, and Elemental, makes his directorial debut with Inside Out 2. The script for the film is written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, both of whom were involved in the creation of the original Inside Out. In this sequel, we fast forward two years and find a 13-year-old Riley, complete with pimples and braces, along with her two best friends Grace and Brie, heading to hockey camp on Soap2Day Movies. This summer may be their last together, highlighting the recurring theme of loss and separation seen in Disney and Pixar movies. Riley's admiration and adoration for varsity hockey captain Valentina 'Val' Ortiz can be seen as a deep crush, especially considering the impact of puberty on her life.
