The field is shaped by universally acknowledged legal norms derived from human rights law, humanitarian law, and international criminal law. Through the designation of specifically tailored measures, accounting for the legal, political, social, cultural, and economic context(s) of violence, those initiatives attempt to provide the most appropriate approaches to justice.
