Revolution or Kingdom? Humility or power? - Jesus and Barabbas (Matthew 27)

This week we look at Revolution. In Matthew 27:11-26, the people have a choice between two people: Jesus and Barabbas. For Jesus, freedom is not worth killing for but it is worth dying for. When Jesus says to us “go and make disciples…”, it is clear that he is sending the disciples as revolutionaries into the world. However, instead of a revolution built on hatred, Jesus brings a revolution built on love: a revolution, called the “Kingdom of God”. Instead of the way of power, Jesus sets out the way of humility. Which will we choose?
