Hugo Burnham — drummer for the legendary post-punk band Gang of Four — joins host Mike Malts for a wide-ranging conversation on the Joey's Song LINERnotes podcast. Hugo played on Gang of Four's iconic first three records (Entertainment!, Solid Gold, and Songs of the Free), helped define the sound of a generation, and has spent decades since in the music industry as a manager and A&R executive.  Mike and Hugo dig into how Gang of Four developed their distinctive post-punk groove, Hugo's drumming influences (Charlie Watts, Winston Grennan, Simon Kirk), and the collaborative chemistry between Hugo, Andy Gill, and Dave Allen that made those early records so unique.
