Rex Sikes' Movie Beat chats with acting coach Trilby Jeeves

from Rex Sikes' Movie Beat · host Rex Sikes

Trilby Jeeves acting coach. I am excited to be able to speak acting with Trilby who is an actor, instructor, and writer from Vancouver, Canada Born in Vancouver, Canada, spent her childhood in Banff, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island, Trilby Jeeves was the first English student to be theatrically trained in her second language for 3 years at “Le Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique” in Quebec City, where she discovered “Le Bouffon”. She went on to perform and direct in both languages across Canada, eventually coming back to Vancouver. As well as performing over 40 plays, she also worked for 20 years in the theatre & film industry as a set costumer working on T.V. series such as “Highlander”, Spielburg’s “Taken”, Paramount’s “Higher Ground”; feature films such as Disney’s “Angels In The EndZone”, and “The Lizzie McGuire Movie”,” Universal’s “Snow Falling On Cedars” and many more. Trilby has taught classes in improvisation throughout the school system in British Columbia, and is currently teaching her own popular “Buffoonery Acting Workshop” in Canada & the USA. As a writer, Trilby is developing her own one-woman show. She also works for the Vancouver Film School as an actor for both the writing and directing departments. With partner Peter D. Marshall, she shares in teaching the “Directing the actor” workshop for film students worldwide. "Buffoonery Acting Techniques" with Trilby Jeeves is a 2-day journey of discovery for actors on how to tap into truthful performances. Actors will gain more confidence, and more understanding where emotion resides in the body. Each exercise leads the actor to an improved performance for both the camera and the stage. The goal of the workshop is to awaken the actor to their potential, understand more who they are, and give the actor a tool they can use on their own for auditions, rehearsals and performances.
