RFP Podcast Episode #43 – Owning your own story!!

For most of my life I have portrayed stories that were not necessarily always, “my true story.” I exaggerated, stretched the truth, and downright lied. Most of the time it was to try to impress someone, pretend to be something I am not, to avoid trouble, or to not face failure or fear. I believe the last one, facing failure or fear, is the real root cause of why we avoid being true. In this social media filled world we try to present all the best things that are happening to us and share the world how great our lives are. However, and I speak this from experience, the more I’ve shared my true stories, my insecurities, failures, and fears, the more I’ve expressed my vulnerabilities, the more connection I find with others. Are we truly being real to others? Are we truly being real to ourselves? “Owning our story can be hard but not as nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.” Brene’ Brown
