This new approach integrates glucocorticoids with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) or cyclophosphamide, combined with an additional immunosuppressive agent such as belimumab or a calcineurin inhibitor. The rationale behind this shift is to reduce long-term steroid exposure while improving renal outcomes.
