Rick Nucci On His Entrepreneurial Journey Starting Two Startups In Philly

from Entrepreneur's Enigma · host Seth Goldstein & Goldstein Media LLC

Rick is a local startup celebrity having started two startups in Philadelpha. His first was Boomi, which was bought by Dell, then spun out again and is still located in the Philadelphia area. His current startup is Guru, which is an internal communication tool for business. Rick's entrepreneurial journey began: Rick bet big on the future of the cloud when he founded Boomi in 2000. The early years were tough though; he ran into some challenging chapters and has openly said that "Boomi 1.0 failed" — however, this failure taught him some lessons that later helped him build Boomi up to be acquired by Dell and to start Guru in 2013 Starting Guru: Rick often talks about Guru being born out of necessity — he saw that most intranets and wikis had painfully low adoption and usability, which meant that employees often didn't have access to the information needed to do their jobs. He founded Guru to offer companies a new way to solve this age-old problem. The new world of work: as Rick guided Guru through the pandemic and shift to remote work, he formed strong opinions about the new world of work — a topic he's hugely passionate about these days — and believes that many companies are struggling to thrive in the remote-first world because they're still approaching challenges around productivity, employee engagement, and agility in with old-world thinking Find Rick Online https://www.linkedin.com/in/ricknucci/ https://getguru.com/ https://twitter.com/ricknucci/ https://www.phillystartupleaders.org/ If you’re enjoying Entrepreneur’s Enigma, please give us a review on the podcast directory of your choice.
