Rick Witter - In Conversation
from Beyond The Title · host Josh Barry
Singer/songwriter Rick Witter found fame in the mid nineties as the frontman of the soft rock band Shed 7. Formed in York in 1990 Shed 7 originally comprised of Witter on vocals, Joe Johnson on keyboard and guitar, bassist Tom Gladwin and Alan Leach on drums. Their debut album Change Giver was released in September 1994 in the midst of the beginnings of Britpop and was the perfect soundtrack to a changing Britain. Yet it was Shed 7’s follow up album A Maximum High which would cement their status as indie icons with timeless hits including Standby. This was followed by the 1998 album Let It Ride featuring the timeless track She Left Me On a Friday. I caught up with the evergreen rocker on the set of Shed 7’s performance at the Isle of Wight Festival to talk; eras, gold and his recollections of a life in music. Ladies and gentlemen Mr Rick Witter
