RIDGE RUNNER: 3 miniatures & 5 interpolations from PIANO SKETCHES
from Cliff Crego · host Cliff Crego
IMAGE: Granite ridge divide at 2600m,Eagle Cap Wilderness, the WALLOWAS, OREGON. This is a little ten minute demonstration of what I think of as a new synergistic genus of Art Music Concert. A lot like a wilderness journey made together on foot, we hear short, challenging, at times wild, virtuoso piano pieces performed as interpolations between prose-poem-like philosophical meditations. If we say, MUSIC is MOVEMENT; MUSIC is a movement of RELATIONSHIP, then here we have a new dynamic balance, a kind of inner tension that unfolds as we listen to all eight parts as a whole. See what you think! RIDGE RUNNER….movements (1) “Swallow clavier / strange loops” (2) “One voice / many sorrows” (3) ON THE DYNAMIC BALANCE OF PRIMARY CONTRASTS (4) “Quarter-tone bells / Stolen Moments” (5) TOO MANY VARIABLES (6) ‘“60” Scherzo / 5:3” (7) WATERCOURSE WAY (8) “Straight tight lines / spiral tail” TEXTS used are here http://picture-poems.com/photoweek/dipper-falls_sparkles.html PIANO SKETCHES: Sharp curves. Falling rocks. Severe slides., is on Soundcloud.
