And then, why don't you guys take a seat? Has your grab in your seat, grab your Bible or your phone or whatever you got? We're going to open it up to Luke chapter 10. I'm excited about tonight we're continuing this series that we're calling the same series because the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is in you.
So tonight we're actually going to be talking about the power and the authority of the believer. You know, there's so many things that separate Christianity from every other faith, but one of which is that the believer has the power and the authority. You're tracking with me? This should shift culture.
This should shift mindsets. And it should make fear be completely unrelatable. So let's talk about this a little. We good?
Luke 10, 19. Behold, this is Jesus talking. I give you power. Now some of your translations will say authority there to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.
And nothing shall by any means hurt you. What's interesting is that there's actually two original language, two Greek words for power. And if you're reading in the King James, you would hear him say, I'm giving you power over all the power of the enemy. It's interesting, but you look up the original language and those two words power, they're completely different.
He's saying I'm giving you exusia over all the dunamis of the enemy. Now, dunamis is what you and I know is power. It's where we get that word dynamite. But exusia, my friend, is high above power.
In fact, he's saying it right here. I'm giving you something high above power of the enemy. This exusia word means authority. Now, we have to get this.
In fact, let's just tell a little story. For any of us who are new to even the concept, maybe you're not new to the concept, but you're new to believing the concept that you have authority. Let's tell the story. It starts way back.
The Trinity is talking amongst themselves. They're like, let's make man like us. Let's make the heavens for ourselves, but the earth, man will have dominion. He will subdue.
Now, we're learning terms here, right? So if you're a note taker, you can write down power means ability. But authority means the right to command that power. And we were given authority, the right to command the power in the earth.
So we learn in the original, it's just said, hey, man will have dominion. So if you were learning, okay, how does dominion fit in there? Well, power plus authority, if we're getting to a math equation, equals dominion. Power plus authority equals dominion.
Now, when Lucifer fell, dude had power and authority. But when he fell, he lost authority. What did man have in the earth, the thing that he was missing? So when Lucifer fell, he gave up authority.
When man fell, we gave up authority. Question is who got the authority? Still got your Bible? Let's look it up.
Let's go to Luke 4, verse 5. The same book, Luke 4, verse 5. Let me give you a little context. Man was made to rule over the earth, right?
The ruler of this world could be a title for man. He quotes you something. All of a sudden the devil took on that title. John 1430 says he's the ruler of this world.
2 Corinthians 4, 4 says that he's the God, small G of this world. What's interesting is Psalm says that we're gods of this world. And I want you to feel what that even feels like, because even the mention of that name, that title, that position, sounds blasphemous. Religion's done a number on us, guys.
Ephesians 2, 2 says that he's the prince of the power. Look up the original word, it's exusia. He's the prince of the authority of the heir. So let's look at this verse that we just looked up.
Luke 4, verse 5. Devil is tempting Jesus in the wilderness. So the devil takes Jesus up on a high mountain, and he showed him the entire kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Jesus, all this authority I will give to you, why, for this has been given to me.
So the question is, who got the authority that man gave up? Satan. So let's just pause here for a minute, because Jesus hadn't finished the work yet. The concern that heaven has with the current mindset and belief system of the average believer is that we have no revelation of what Jesus actually finished and accomplished.
Because if we were to have a mindset, I'm telling this story, right? If we just paused here, devil's got authority and power on the earth. Well, and God obviously does too, because he's got it. If we were to just pause here, now we are presently at the mindset of the average believer.
Big, bad devil. God's all powerful, all supreme. Worm in the dirt, depraved, sinner. Pause.
As if Jesus never finished the work. What a tragedy. That the average default is that when storms come, we're elbowing God and saying, dude, calm the storm. Where he gets up, calm the storm, and the first thing out of his mouth is where's your faith?
Even if we go Old Testament on this thing. What I love about the Old Testament is that it is a beautiful type and foreshadow of what's to come. See, authority was actually delegated to specific people, at specific times for specifics. Moses gets delegated a rod of authority.
You look up that whole passage on the parting of the Red Sea. Study it out. He cries out to God and he's like, hey, part the sea. God says, why are you crying to me?
You part the sea. See, when you delegate power and authority to somebody, there's an expectation. There's a responsibility that comes with that. Now, if I'm the CEO of a company and I hire a manager to oversee a department, I am delegating authority to run that department and to hire and fire.
Now, if he's elbowing me every time there's a problem, I'm going to let that guy go. Now, delegation is what it was like in the old. Comes and goes. It's for time.
It's for seasons, for a thing. Oh, friend, we didn't get delegated authority. We inherited authority. We inherited power that never leaves.
You can't take back an inheritance once it's been released. So, I think that we need to start getting revelation. Where in my mindset is there room to grow? Where in my belief system am I still functioning in the old government?
Because I actually view that whole Jesus asleep in the boat thing is actually a picture of you and I. All of creation is growing for sons to manifest and where sleep in the boat. And there's storms raging. It's time to wake up.
So, maybe it's just okay to even ask yourself, hey, what's my default? When I see storms, though, for real, what's my default? When I hear of the latest virus of the day, corona, what is my default? Because I believe, unfortunately, the default is fear.
And the picture that I got this week was like, what would it look like to actually have the king of the jungle, a lion? And then a mouse come into his den and he's backing up and getting back into the corner. Like, are you kidding me? If you don't know the order of the food chain, you might be backing up into a corner in fear because of some virus.
See, we're afraid of demons because we think they have something that we don't. Power. Are you kidding me? The greatest power they could possibly manifest, you have been given authority to crush.
Now, what I love about the worst and darkest day in humanity in Genesis when we felt everything was lost. We have a father prophesying hope. Oh, that there'd be a day where this capital S seed would crush the head of the serpent. What did we just read, though?
Let's turn back to that first verse, Luke 10, 19. What is the first thing that we're crushing that was prophesied in Genesis? Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents. This is powerful because we're afraid of serpents.
We're afraid of scorpions. We're afraid of the enemy. It's time to wake up in the boat friends. So let's finish this story.
Lucifer offers Jesus the option to take a shortcut. Hey, forget about the stripes. Forget about that dying thing. Forget about sweating drops of blood.
We can do this right now. One of the reasons you're here is for exusia to get authority back. I want worship. You want the authority back.
So let's make a deal. I love Jesus. It's always confused me. Why is Holy Spirit right before this leading him into the wilderness to get tempted?
Because Holy Ghost doesn't do that. Holy Spirit was leading Jesus in the path to redeem what the first Adam fell. So as the last Adam, he sits underneath the temptation and conquers it, subdues it, tramples on snakes and scorpions. And he exits the wilderness in power.
It's powerful to me, but the story doesn't end there. After he dies, I want to get verses right. Both Ephesians 4, 9, and 1 Peter 3, 19 talk about what happens when he dies. It says he descends into the lower parts.
Literally went to hell. It says that we know of two things he did. One, he preached the gospel to those in chains so that they could be in paradise because the work was done. But the second thing is that we see written about Colossians 2 is that he stripped the principalities and the powers of their authority.
That's insane. Conquering King Jesus, plundering the enemy. Now check this out. Matthew 28, turn there.
You recognize this chapter because it's the Great Commission. Matthew 28, verse 18. You guys there? Jesus came and spoke to them saying, all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
And in that authority, he sends them out. Do we understand the timeline? Do we understand the story? Now where's our mindset?
That's where we have to start having this rubber meet the road. That we're actually the ones that crushed the devil's head. So this is authority, right? Let's talk about authority a little bit.
What's fascinating to me is you guys remember how there was this Roman sanctuary? He's a soldier. He's like, Jesus, one of my servants is sick. Please heal him.
Jesus is like, sure, I'll come to your house. You guys like, nope, not where they have to come to my house, but see, I'm a man under authority. I understand authority. All you have to do is speak.
Jesus' response was, I have never seen faith like this, not even in Israel. And the only thing that was different is the dude understood authority. I love that. So I brought some props with me and let me give a little legal disclaimer before I start using them.
I am not law enforcement. I am not affiliated with any law enforcement. And everything that I brought with me is a prop and a toy. Is everyone okay?
No one's going to sue. Let me suit up. So let's talk authority. Everybody see, if you're listening to the recording, I just put on a badge.
Now what makes a man or woman wearing a badge different than one who isn't? Why is it that somebody wearing one of these can actually just walk up the traffic, put their hand up? And all of a sudden cars stop. Now we need to understand the difference between power and authority because they're not functioning in power.
They're not bigger than the car. They're not standing there with a bazooka. They're standing there in authority. Let's get this, okay?
Because when you start praying for the sick, casting up devils are raising the dead. The very first thing going through your mind is, who the heck am I? Well, something changes when you're beginning a badge. You're actually shifting in identity.
Because the thing is, is if some FBI agent kicks down my door, he's not doing it as Joe. He's doing it as an agent of the federal government. If I walked up to some police officer and assaulted him, I wouldn't be in trouble because I assaulted Joe. You track it?
It's because he's an officer. He has a badge. He has a right to command. So when you put on a badge, when you actually put on the authority, you become something different.
Because see, I'm not just here in the name of Joe. Kickin' down your door. I'm functioning in the name of something greater. An entire government catches.
Kingdom of heaven. Earth. Kingdom. Colony.
We don't understand kingdoms and colonies. But the strategy of a kingdom to spread is to send representatives to colonize new territory, to bring culture, to bring their ways, to subdue that land. And then it's a colony, and it looks like, and it feels like the kingdom. When we are actually functioning in authority, it starts to answer the question why?
Why? Why? Do I have authority? You are to bring heaven into your sphere.
The kingdom of heaven is not something that you're going to look for or find. The Bible actually says for behold the kingdom of heavens within you. You are literally a walking open heaven into your sphere. So let's track this badge.
Because I have power to drive, but unless I get a license, even if I'm a really good driver, it's illegal. I could be the best attorney on the planet. And if I don't get the badge, if I don't get the license, it's illegal. Power is not something that makes demons quick.
They have power. In fact, a lot of power is functioning off of giftings. It's kind of interesting. Because the gifts of God are irrevocable, so you might see people functioning in power all over the earth in their God-given gift to function in healing.
God-given gift to function as a prophet. And with no relationship with God, holy spirits not in or on them, they're functioning in power. Power is not impressive to the demonic realm. They have power.
They do not have the one thing that was stripped by Jesus himself and handed to believers. I don't read any time that the demons quaked when Jesus turned water to wine or healed the sick. No, it was when he spoke with authority that they fell. Even when the guards showed up to arrest Jesus, speaking with authority, I am he.
It's crazy, but they literally fell over. Authority is different than power. Authority comes in the commission. Power comes.
Now we're going to pivot. We're going to talk about power. Power comes in the encounter. How interesting is it that at the Great Commission, Jesus says all authority I give to you, but before you're a witness of my ex-wannings, before you're a witness, it's time to get close with power.
Go and wait in the city for the baptism of power. Give me a second. Let me suit up. This is exosia.
This is dunamis. If you don't respect the exosia, you get the dunamis. Now here's what I want to say. This is just a proven.
I already feel different. You walk different when you're carrying power. You think different. I'm not just a sitting duck.
Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. What shifts? I will fear no evil. Corona what?
Now the shifts in me. Again, this is for fun, but this is also for real. Because I'm not going to go out looking to get infected by Corona, but I'm just not afraid of a fight. Track that.
It's not like you're going to go out and stir up trouble in a foolish way. If it comes to my door, I'm not afraid. You have authority and power, and with the combo, you can have dominion. That's powerful to me.
Sometimes we're like, go out, where's the power? It's almost like you walk into a room. How silly would it be? Pick up your phone and be like, you know what?
I've got to call Excel energy here. Hey, can you release the power? because I need some lights in this room. Power's been released from.
Excel energy's already supplied the power. Excel energy did their part. Now it's time for you to flip the switch. You're not lacking power.
You're lacking the revelation that you've already received it. You're lacking revelation that you even have the right to flip the switch. So if you wanna get cute and make things rhyme, you can think that the power's the might, the authority's the right. Helps you remember it, I have the right and the mind.
You're tracking. I made this note that I think it's common language, this higher power thing. Like we're looking to a higher power. But I love the fact that Jesus is like, no I give you the higher power.
We don't look to a higher power. We release it. But let's get back to this. I mean, if you're walking in rough days or in a rough neighborhood or things are going on in your home or in your sphere, how powerful is it that you're not a sitting duck?
And that you can actually, let's get a little bit of language for this, okay? The Bible clearly teaches that part of your new identity is a king. You are a king. How do kings rule?
They rule by decree. Drag it. They open their mouth and decree a thing. Bible says you'll decree a thing and it will be established for you.
I don't know too many kings that are sitting back in their chair wondering if what they'd decree will come to pass. We don't know where kings. So our mouth is shut. We're calling out to a king when he's made us kings and priests.
You have the ability, you have the right. So it's landing with anybody. So I think one of the first things that we have to do is start to get revelation. And what do we actually have the badge?
What do we have the permission? What do we have the right to do? Sometimes we can look to our circumstances and say, I don't know, can I do this? What if we look to the word to get revelation on what we actually have the right to do?
Something sure and stable. So first step, stop looking to your circumstances and start looking to what's written. The one who didn't delegate, the one who gave you, you inherited the power and authority. Let's look to him and see what's actually in the guys will.
Here's the short of it. It is to bring the kingdom of heaven, the culture of heaven, the power of heaven. What is it like in heaven? You have the right to do your sphere to make it look like heaven.
So yeah, if you see healing the sick, casting out devils raised the dead, you better believe that's part of what you've been given the right and the power to do. But what if it shifts even beyond that? Because sometimes it's not just praying for the sick, sometimes it's wrong done against you and the position and the health of your heart. Sometimes it's fear, sometimes it's lust, sometimes it's worry and anxiety and depression.
Anything in your heart, anything in your sphere, anything in your home that is out of order, you have the badge to go after. And friend, this isn't, you're not hunting, it's like a treasure hunt of anything. Because you're hunting for what's out of order so you can introduce the upgrade. It doesn't mean suit up in a white knuckle.
There's a shift in the body of Christ to where he did all the heavy lifting. Our mindset shifts away from work into just managing the garden that he created. We don't have to create good things. He's already created, we tend to what he's done.
You track it? Yeah. So I think that even enforcing a law, a new law, there's a law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets us free from the law of sin and death has now come into the believer's home. And a king can set up a new law, but there's still probably gonna be people that break the law.
It doesn't mean that things won't come into your home. Yes, you'll have trouble in the world. That's actually promised. The question is how do we respond?
This message is mostly about one thing, shifting your mind. Instead of looking up trying to call this higher power out or being afraid of the devil and his power. This message is mostly about one thing. Rise up, sleeping son, and speak to the storm.
Stop calling out to God. God himself, to Moses said, why do you cry out to me? You split the sea. Disciples crying out to Jesus.
He's heck yeah, but where's your faith? So speak to mountains. Stop speaking to God about him. And start speaking to the mountain about him.
Shift it. Just a little simple thing. Oh, okay, I can speak to it. Because you have the badge.
If anybody ever says, hey, stuff's going rough, actually, would you come and pray for some sickness in my home? First off, your mind is I don't know how to heal the sick. Probably. Holy Ghost does.
Let's not forget Donimus. This is the word. This is the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit knows how to heal the sick.
So even if you shifted your faith away from you healing the sick, into Holy Spirit, Resurrection, Power is here in that hand. And he's a big boy. He knows how to heal the sick. Let's go.
Because I got the badge. People walked into a hospital room with a badge on your heart. It shifts it. I have a right to speak to this body.
I belong here. Do you get that shift? Because normally it's like, what am I doing here? I don't know what I'm doing.
You belong in a hospital room. Speaking to bodies. Speak directly to them. Everybody track them.
Love that. So decree a thing. Here's the last thing I want to say. Nope, two things.
What I love about 1 Corinthians 6-2 is that Paul said, all things are permissible, but I will be mastered by nothing. It's culture. It's the mindset of the one who was created to subdue. Now a lot of times we're not in control of what's going on.
And therefore we sit and hope that somebody with control or power can change a thing. But I think that we can actually look in our life and say, OK, I actually have what's required to subdue. So what is going on in my life that needs to get arrested? What is going on in my home or in my sphere that I can speak to?
And start casting vision for what's to come. I actually want to say something. Basically, in the last six months, I have been wearing this in my prayer closet. It's my basement.
And I will just tell you, it's yourself a badge. This will literally shift the mindset. You're on some text strain, and someone says, hey, this mountain or this storm is going on in so and so's life. No problem.
Let me grab my badge. Because I'm not calling back to command, asking for anything. I'm speaking directly to that thing, because I know who I am. I know why I'm here, and I know what I got.
Then from that place you can speak. Is that good? I'm going to invite the band up. Why don't you guys stand?
Last thing I want to cast vision for is our life is not about every circumstance going our way. Because honestly, once you start even just diving into this stuff, hey, I got power and authority, sweet. And you start speaking to mountains, and you're like, mountains not moving. Let's shift a little bit.
Because I will never, as long as I live, I will never forget that the Israelites went into Nebuchadnezzar's fire, and the one with power and authority, Jesus shows up in the middle of it, and he didn't put out the fire. The circumstance never changed. So I want to create a little space here to think higher than a circumstance. Circumstances are petty.
Both kingdoms are after one thing, your heart and your mind. This is the higher thing. You want to see transformation? It's not by the renewing of your circumstances, right?
And some of us are living with chronic mountains and storms. Just being real. Issues in our relationship, issues in our body, no matter what it is. The question is, what is going on here and here?
Because what I saw written about was crazy and that fire. They went in with chains. But those who witnessed it said, three men went in with chains. But now I see four, and none of them have chains.
You can be free in the middle of your fire. The book says nothing shall by any means hurt you. And what if we started thinking higher than circumstances? Because I have joy unspeakable that you can't touch me.
I have peace that's beyond description and beyond understanding. What if we started tapping into the higher law of the Spirit to trump circumstances? And you start going on a hunt for what do I have? That no one, no devil, no circumstance, and no storm can touch you.
It is getting revelation of who you are and what you've been given. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, generalist self-control is accessible now, regardless of the circumstance. And I'm feeling fear, which one of these do I grab? Perfect love casts out fear.
That'll do. God, thank you for love. Because I'm not thinking for me anymore. Therefore, fear doesn't even make sense.
So it's time to look, what do I have? Open the gift. God, we thank you for what you've accomplished. You are so thorough in what you accomplish.
You didn't go part way and leave the rest to us. Thank you for finishing the work. We don't even know how to work. Thank you for finishing it.
Teach us rest, God. Teach us to be free in the midst of fire. Teach us boldness and fire on the inside. God, give us language that the fire in our belly would actually come out of our mouth.
Give us new eyes and new vision. I just prophesied over this body that fear is no longer relatable. God, I thank you for deliverance from fear. Thank you that we're not vulnerable anymore.
We just thank you that he that is in us is greater than regardless of what's out there. Thank you that we're not alone. Thank you that even though we don't know how to do, you do in the tube become one. We love you, God.
We're just gonna seal this and worship. Just keep connecting with him. Why don't you guys spread out, spread to the front. Keep spreading out.
