Pre-Nicene Perspective Darren Kelama Much of Pre-Nicene Christian history has been altered, erased and in many cases, completely fabricated. But with every episode of Pre-Nicene Perspective we take you closer to the truth through the prism of The Very First Bible of 144 A.D. Hosted by Presbyter Darren Kelama with theological assistance from MarcioniteChurch.org The original, unedited Christian canon of the first bible serves as the cornerstone on which our programming is based. Join host Darren Kelama and the PCTV team every week for a look at current and historical events you can't find anywhere else.Pre-Nicene.org is also home to the world's only continuous commercial-free radio broadcast of The Gospel of the Lord and a daily broadcast of the original Pre-Nicene mass. Chandogya Upanishad by Unknown Loyal Books The word Upanishad (upa-ni-shad) consists of, "Upa" means "near;" "ni" means "down;" "shad" means "to sit." Thus, Upanishad is to sit down near the teacher to discuss, learn, practice, and experience. There are some 200 or more Upanishads. Some are lost and are only known about because of being referenced in other Upanishads. The Chandogya-upanishad belongs to the Sama-veda. It ranks among the oldest Upanishads, dating to the Brahmana period of Vedic Sanskrit (before the 8th century BC). It figures as number 9 in the Muktika canon of 108 Upanishads. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has ten Prapathakas (Parts). The first two Prapathakas of the Brahmana deal with sacrifices and other forms of worship. The other eight Prapathakas and their Khandas (Chapters) constitute the Chandogya Upanishad. The 11 principal Upanishads to which Sankara appeals in his great commentary on the Vedanta-Surtras are: Chandogya, Talavakara or Kena, Aitareya, Kaushitaki, Vajasaneyi or Isha, Katha, Mu Pope Pius the Tenth Frances Alice Forbes Pope Saint Pius X (2 June 1835 – 20 August 1914), born Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, was Pope from 4 August 1903 to his death in 1914. He was the first pope since Pius V (1566 to 1572) to be canonized. St. Pius X is known for vigorously opposing modernist interpretations of Catholic doctrine, promoting traditional devotional practices and orthodox theology. His most important reform was to publish the first Code of Canon Law, which collected the laws of the Church into one volume for the first time. He was also considered a pastoral pope, in the sense of encouraging personal holiness, piety and a daily lifestyle reflecting deep Christian values. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia)
