Riquet with the Tuft | Fairy Tales

This story follows Riquet with the Tuft, a prince born extremely ugly but very intelligent, who possesses a fairy gift allowing him to bestow intelligence upon the woman he loves most. He meets a princess who is stunningly beautiful but lacks intelligence, and she holds a complementary gift: the power to make the man she loves handsome. After Riquet uses his gift to make the princess intelligent upon her impulsive promise to marry him in a year, she flourishes but forgets her vow until reminded at the last moment.
