from One More Time Podcast · host One More Time

In this episode of the One More Time Podcast, Kelechi talks about winning a Mountain Dew contest that changed his life, hip-hop and Afrobeats genres blending, going home to Nigeria for the first time, supporting Jidenna on a national tour, and more!Kelechi is a first-generation American artist born to Nigerian parents. Starting out as a Christian rapper named Submit, he rebranded to his government name Kelechi after realizing his music was becoming increasingly autobiographical. He won $50,000 and support for his album "Before the Quarter" by winning a contest sponsored by Mountain Dew. With features from BJ the Chicago Kid, Trinidad James, K Camp and Phay, almost every single release was getting playlisted. He built a successful music business from there with recording / mix engineering added to a resume of well received records and tour support for artists like Wale, Chance the Rapper and Jidenna. After 10 years of pure rap, Kelechi has embraced a new sound leaning into the Afrobeats / Afropop genres and is feeling almost like a brand new artist. Stay tuned to see where this new chapter in his artistry takes him!WATCH this episode on YouTube:https://youtu.be/NnJxyydCOlIFOLLOW Kelechi on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/kelechiWATCH music video for "Waiting for You" by Kelechi:https://youtu.be/BxWoiJfNh2cThe One More Time Podcast is hosted by H3NRY (music producer and mixing engineer) and Playback Ben (music manager and marketing consultant).
