Our steadiness does not come from self-confidence or personality. It comes from the God who surrounds His people the way mountains surround Jerusalem. The real danger is not the pressure around us but the slow drift it can produce within us. Spiritual drift does not happen suddenly. It happens quietly, until compromise begins to feel reasonable and obedience starts to feel like inconvenience. The promise of Psalm 125 is not that faithful people never struggle. It is that God remains faithful in the struggle.
