from Eastview Baptist Church Teaching Podcast · host Eastview Baptist Church
Risen Week 6 “Jesus Changes Everything.” Mark 4:35-41, Luke 24:1-8 Easter 2024 EBC The Textual Idea Sentence: In the testimony/account of Mark and Luke; Jesus took the time and initiative to intervene. The Sermon Idea Sentence: Jesus is still intervening in the lives of those who call on Him, as LORD AND SAVIOR. The Interrogative Sentence: How is Jesus able to change the lives of those who believe? The Transition Sentence: Our text provides two SUPERNATURAL ways how Jesus changes everything! 1. (v39) Even the forces of nature must bow down at His’ command for obedience! He got up, rebuke the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be Still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:39, CSB) 2. (v2-3) The power of death cannot contain Him! They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (Luke 24:2-3, CSB) The Big Ask: How does this change/effect our lives today? 1. (v40) We must believe in spite of the trials of this life. Then He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40, CSB) 2. (v5-6) We have new life, an escape from our sin and shame, and a new hope because of His resurrection! “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men. “He is not here, but He has risen!” (Luke 24:5-6, CSB) Decision Point: Have you made the decision to surrender the winds and waves of your life to Jesus so that when you breathe your last breath on this side of eternity, your next moment will be in your Resurrected body? 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!18 Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.19 That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us. (2 Corinthians 5:17-19, CSB) How? (Repeat this prayer) Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I can never on my own power or abilities save myself from the sin and shame of my life. Today, I invite Jesus into my life and into my heart, to be both the Lord AND Savior of my soul. Today I pray for the power and wisdom to begin this journey of repentance, turning away from my sins. Knowing each day will bring worries and storms all of it’s own, I pray God to turn over my whole life and my whole self to you. Mold me, change me, create in me a new heart of God. I pray this prayer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; Amen! - If you have just prayed this prayer for the first time, or made the decision to rededicate, or recommit your life to Jesus Christ please come down to the altar and let us pray with you this morning! Equip the Saints, The Great Commission. Go and Tell!
