Rising, AZYC

RISING is an intimate window into a society grappling with trauma and the people rising to protect its moral compass and democratic foundations. For years people around the world have been exposed to images of war and destruction from Israel. RISING reveals the largely unseen story of more than one million Israelis protesting against the current far-right government fighting to defend democracy, stop the endless war, and preserve humanity under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. I interviewed the film's writer/director/producer Esther Takac. The AZYC is the roof-body organisation of nine Zionist Youth Movements which operate in Australia and New Zealand. The AZYC seeks to represent, support, and connect Zionist youth irrespective of political and religious ideology. I will be joined by Dana Bagel (Habonim), Natan Fell (Bnei Akiva), Joe Cine (Netzer), Ori Rosenscveig (Tzofim), Eve Rosengarten (Hineni) and Anat Dror (AZYC Executive Officer) in an in-depth discussion exploring our younger generation's thoughts on the present and future directions.
