Gaming elements like speeding down a motorway with a chain in one hand, a throttle in the other, and the frickin' fuzz in the rear-view mirror may seem relatively 'par for the course' in modern video games, back in 1991 this was a radical idea akin to allowing fatalities in a fighting game.
