Rob Roy Volume 1 Chapter 12
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which the proud Mr. Osbaldistone, stirred by jealousy and misunderstanding, finds himself plunged into a night of vinous excess and folly, culminating in a quarrel that threatens the harmony of Osbaldistone Hall. The ensuing day brings sober reflection, contrition, and the delicate prospect of reconciliation, as gentle Diana Vernon summons him to aid her in literary pursuit, setting the stage for a tentative and ironic tête-à-tête.
