from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which our young traveller returns to his ancestral northern home, encountering the wild romantic scenery and the lively pursuit of the fox-hounds that herald his arrival; he is soon introduced, with a blend of frankness and charm, to the spirited Miss Vernon and the rustic yet ceremonious household of the Osbaldistone family. The venerable hall, rich in heraldic and hunting trophies, prepares to welcome Sir Hildebrand and his kin amidst the merry tumult of servitors and hounds, setting the stage for reunion and rustic gaiety.
