from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which the narrator, newly welcomed to Osbaldistone Hall with a mixture of rustic hospitality and indifferent kinship, navigates the complexities of his uncle's boisterous household and the spirited companionship of Miss Vernon, whose lively character and singular courage offer him both amusement and concern.
