Rob Roy Volume 1 Chapter 8
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which the young Mr. Osbaldistone and his determined cousin Diana Vernon confront the local Justice to seek redress and repudiation of a grievous and unfounded accusation that besmirches the former’s honour, amidst a scene of rustic conviviality and legal pedantry. Their earnest entreaties encounter a mixture of reluctance, joviality, and bureaucratic formalities, underscoring the complexities and caprices of justice in these border regions.
