Rob Roy Volume 2 Chapter 13

In which our small party, detained overnight by a suspicious and uneasy soldiery at the humble Clachan of Aberfoil, is led into a precarious march through the rugged Highland passes in pursuit of the outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor, amidst the constant threat of ambush and the restless ill-will of the local clansfolk. The tense expedition culminates in a sudden and fierce skirmish upon a rocky promontory, where a resolute female figure confronts the soldiers and the clash ends in a disheartening defeat for the English detachment.
