Rob Roy Volume 2 Chapter 3

In which the observer attends a solemn and unusual worship service held in the subterranean vaults of Glasgow’s Laigh Kirk, noting the grave atmosphere and the earnest devotion of the congregation, whilst reflecting on the Scottish character and religious practices. Amidst this scene, a mysterious warning is whispered to him, portending danger and prompting cautious intrigue as he observes the prominent city citizens departing the service.
