Rob Roy Volume 2 Chapter 4
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which a young poet, laden with foreboding and driven by a mysterious summons, encounters a silent stranger who leads him through the solemn and shadowy streets of Glasgow to a prison, promising revelations of imminent peril. The evening’s solemnity and the city’s austere Sabbath observances form a fitting backdrop to this strange and suspenseful meeting, where trust and danger are delicately balanced.
