Rob Roy Volume 2 Chapter 7
from The Walter Scott Library Hosted by Sir Walter Scott
In which our young gentleman returns to the town amidst the noisy sympathy of neighbours and the troublesome fidelity of a self-important guide named Andrew Fairservice, whose demands and obstinacy provoke a mixture of anger and reluctant amusement. Meanwhile, noble hospitality and sharp business discourse intertwine at Bailie Nicol Jarvie’s, as inquiries about the mysterious Robert Campbell elicit grudging tidings, and the affairs of the Osbaldistone family are subjected to keen scrutiny and hearty counsel.
