El libro de Susana Sosenski, Robachicos. Historia del secuestro infantil en México (1900-1960) (Ciudad de México, Grano de Sal, Instituto de Investigaciones Históricas, 2021), examina las múltiples causas y circunstancias del secuestro infantil, en vinculación con la pérdida de autonomía del sujeto infante y su presencia o ausencia en el espacio público. A lo largo de cinco capítulos y en un entrecruzamiento de la historia cultural y social, la historia de la infancia, la historia del miedo y de los medios de comunicación, las páginas de este volumen plantean explicaciones sobre las circunstancias en que niñas, niños y adolescentes perdieron la libertad para circular seguros y solos por las calles, a la vez que expone a los agentes que limitaron su autonomía y derecho a la ciudad. La obra centra su atención en los infantes de la capital mexicana que fueron víctimas de secuestro, alejándose así de la narrativa dominante de la historia de la criminalidad que ha colocado el punto focal en los criminales. Así, el “robachicos”, mexicanismo con que se designa al secuestrador de niños, es presentado tanto como un actor criminal como una representación del miedo construida para los niños y sobre los niños; esto es, entre una práctica criminal y cultural.
