Robocop (1987)

Robocop is a 1987 American Science Fiction Action Thriller Satire film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner.  The film stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, and Miguel Ferrer. The story takes place in a near future, crime-ridden Detroit and focuses on a police officer who is murdered and then revived as a cyborg who executes a brutal campaign against crime while coming to terms with the lingering fragments of his humanity.
