I recently read an article published by Oracle and Seth Stephens Davidowitz discussing how business leaders are overwhelmed by the challenge of decision making. So much so that 70% of those surveyed would like to have an AI (Artificial Intelligence) make the decision for them. What!? How can this be? There are several other observations in the article that make it a worthwhile read. My interest is to look at it from the perspective of leadership responsibility and how to get to place where decision making (a critical responsibility of a true leader) is competency that every leader embraces rather than runs away from. Pining for a computer to do your job is in my opinion an abdication of your role as leader. I will explore the importance of process in decision making, my courting of "Skippy" my nickname for the AI at chatGPT. As well as the potential role of AI in leadership in the future.
