from Ruta 89: Un viaje sonoro a los 80s y 90s

El festival gratuito más importante de Latinoamérica celebró en grande su edición # 25. Algo de historia... Rock al parque comenzó como un espacio para las bandas locales, el lugar donde se dieron a conocer decenas de artistas nacionales como Aterciopelados, Estados Alterados, La Pestilencia o Doctor Krápula, entre otros; pero también el espacio donde los colombianos vieron de forma gratuita a grandes músicos como Charly García, Andrés Calamaro o Luis Alberto Spinetta. Desde 1992 se realizaban encuentros informales de música en el Planetario Distrital de Bogotá, pero gracias a la iniciativa del cantante y actor Mario Duarte, miembro de la banda La Derecha, en 1994 se formalizó la celebración de este evento con el apoyo del Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo de Bogotá. El objetivo del festival era promover las bandas de rock y metal del país, y a la vez desarrollar programas de tolerancia y convivencia entre los jóvenes. Inicialmente, el festival estaba especializado en bandas de rock, pero poco a poco fue ampliando su diversidad y se fue abriendo a diferentes géneros como el metal, punk, blues, reggae y ska. Actualmente se instalan tres tarimas o escenarios, en los cuales se presentan artistas de diferentes géneros de manera simultánea.
