The conversations about Roma at the time of its release and discussions about awards seemed to center on the fact that it was released on Netflix with only a limited theatrical run. People were convinced it wouldn’t have a shot for this very reason, but the quality of the film proved that even a Netflix release could be considered for Best Picture.
