from Cultivate Media · host Cultivate Discipleship Programme
Jordan taught verse-by-verse through Romans 5:1-5 and highlighted five things that Paul connects our hope to in the text. Firstly, Paul connects our hope to our justification; we have been forgiven and accepted by God. Secondly, our hope is connected to the glory of God in that he will complete His work in us! Thirdly, Paul connects our hope to our sufferings whereby we can be confident that God is doing good things in us and for us. Then Paul says our hope will never put us to shame and, finally, he connects our hope to the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us. EVERLASTING HOPE: Summer Programme 2024 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:1-5) “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.” (Psalm 42:5) It is our desire to see our Students grow in their relationship with Jesus during and outside the Cultivate Discipleship Programme! This summer our theme is Everlasting Hope, sourced from Romans 5:1-5 and Psalm 42:5. We will be focusing on how, as believers, it is vital to place our hope in the sure, living, and everlasting God alone. Hope is having a confident expectation of something good. As believers, we often place our hope in all the wrong places: experiences, relationships, possessions, dreams and aspirations. Over the summer, we will look at how misplaced hope ends in disappointment and unmet expectations, as all things suffer from a degree of brokenness and were not created to be the source of our hope. We aim to explore how the pressure of life builds in us a hope that will not be disappointed enabling us to encourage our soul to hope in God; like the Psalmist did in Psalm 42. Believer, be assured of such hope as God has proved His intention to complete His work in us. It was our heart that our Students left the Summer Programme with the assurance that they can place their hope in God, in all seasons of life, being confident that our God will deliver and be faithful.
