Romans: God's Power to Save

from The Gospel of Christ-TGOC · host The Gospel of Christ

“The gospel is God's power to save,” Romans 1:16.Welcome to our study of the book of Romans. In this series, we’re going to be looking at the book of Romans and in the main message that Paul is trying to establish about God's power to save.As Paul discusses the book of Romans, as he writes this letter to Christians in the area of Rome, Paul is dealing with some of these people that have come out of Judaism. Some of them maybe are still entrenchedin some of its ideas, and Paul is writing to show that it's no longer the Jewish system. It's no longer the Levitical way- now it is the gospel of Christ that saves all men. The key verse to the whole book is likely Romans 1:16. Paul says, ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.’ As Paul thinks about the wonderful idea of the gospel message and salvation, he wants these people to clearly understand that it is not Christ plus something else – it is not the old Jewish Levitical sacrificial system- the gospel is God's power to save. Everybody is justified under the same system, both Jew and Gentile, under the same system byfaith in Jesus Christ. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)
