Romans, Justification & Baptism
from Ancient Truth
Protestants tout the latin slogan sola fide (salvation by faith alone) in an effort to discount the essentiality of any other act of obedience in the plan of salvation. For example, they consider baptism as a work of human merit and thus having no part in the scheme of redemption per se. The Book of Romans is often cited as "support" for their viewpoint. However, the Christian world may have largely misread this Pauline masterpiece and misperceived his intent in discussing justification before God.
