Romans: The Gospel for Everyone — Week 10 - Romans 4:13-25
from LifeWell Messages
After reviewing that salvation is by faith and never by works—because we cannot pull it off and because works-based religion writes God out of the equation—this message on Romans 4:13-25 pivots to something deeply relatable: what do you do when it seems like there is nothing you can do? For about twenty-five years Abraham held a vocal promise from God with nothing to show for it. "Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed." The teaching names the hopeless situations people actually face—infertility, a failing marriage, debt, a prodigal child, a diagnosis, addiction, loneliness, depression—and insists your circumstances are not your savior and do not get to tell you who you are. Abraham wavered within himself yet did not waver toward God's promise. A frequent prayer is offered: "I believe; help my unbelief." By faith God can rewrite your story, because faithfulness is one of his defining attributes.
