Romans: The Gospel for Everyone — Week 11 - Romans 5:1-11
from LifeWell Messages
Joy matters, yet alienation from God is more than breaking rules—it signals a cosmic conflict humanity has joined against God's purposes. Working through Romans 5:1-11 , this message shows that in Christ that hostility ends: justified by faith, we have peace with God. The hard turn is rejoicing in suffering. Christian joy is not the world's happiness, which depends on keeping circumstances favorable; it is unshaken by hardship and can even grow stronger. Suffering produces endurance, endurance character, character hope—and that hope, grounded in the future of God and poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, never disappoints. While we were still helpless and even enemies, Christ died as a substitute for the ungodly. The depth of the danger reveals the magnitude of the rescue: the more we grasp the size of the debt, the more our hearts are moved to grateful joy in God himself.
