How do you know God loves you when the circumstances of life and the news say otherwise? Romans 5:12-21 answers by pointing not to circumstances but to the cross: God demonstrated his love in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This message presses that sin is not merely an activity but a condition—the root is the glory of God not honored, not treasured, not loved. The church is urged to stop making light of sin and to hate our own sin and love sinners. Paul then contrasts Adam and Christ: one man's trespass infected everyone; one man's righteous act offers justification to all who believe. There are only two teams—Adam or Jesus.
